As writers, we write to be read. We aren’t just writing for mental masturbation. We want to be read. That is our goal. So, don’t sabotage your post by giving your hard work a title that doesn’t make your readers click.

Title creation is an art; it takes practice.

I don’t have a tried and true way to write a headline that gets clicks, except I know when I’ve hit on a good one. Sometimes I start with the title of my post, and then I write the post. And sometimes, writing the post comes first, and then the title comes more easily. In each case, I take time with the title because it’s so crucial to drawing your audience in, it’s the most important part of a post really, because, without a good one, the post won’t matter. It is like your storefront or the home page on your blog. It is that important.

If your headline doesn’t catch the reader’s eye or intrigue them to click, then your post won’t get read. So make your title appealing but not too clickbaity. There is a fine line to walk here.
