Between Soulmates, Love Is Recognition You Don’t Have to Fight to Get
Platonic soulmates are so worthwhile.
I met him in fifth grade. We were both quiet and reserved. We clicked immediately, like siblings — who like and respect each other.
I have been fortunate to have met several soulmates in life; one amazing girlfriend I’ve known since grade school and still see and talk to, a brother, this male friend from fifth grade, one dog for sure who I recently had to say goodbye to, and at least two boyfriends, including my current partner but excluding the husband I stayed with for too long. That’s a hardy amount of souls who fit into my soulmate category.
Each person has their definition of what constitutes a soul mate.
We can disagree on this. The definition of a soul mate means something different to every person.
A soul mate for me means I become more of myself around that person; I don’t look for acceptance from them because they see me as I am — the attractive parts of my personality and the not so attractive parts of my personality.
This acceptance is nearly always coupled with a feeling of deep knowing when I first meet this person. In an instant, I feel as I have known them forever, or in another time, and words aren’t necessary to…
